Anıtkabir, one of the important structures of our country, is at the top of our list of places to visit in Ankara. Due to the observatory on it, a competition was organized in which 47 projects from various countries participated in to decide on the shape of the building in Anıttepe, which was called Rasattepe in the past.

The mausoleum, which is considered as the most important example of the 2nd National Architecture Period, consists of the Peace Park, which was created inspired by Atatürk’s motto “Peace at home, peace in the world,” and the Monument Block, which contains the most important two parts of the building complex.
In the Monument Block, where Hürriyet (Liberty)and İstiklal (Independence) Towers form the starting point, the Ceremonial Square, which you will reach by passing through the Lion Road, is surrounded by towers that describe the Period of Independence. The mausoleum, where you can enter by climbing the 42-step staircase in the square, contains the main parts of the building such as Hall of Honor and Tomb Room.
While visiting the building complex where Anıtkabir Atatürk and War of Independence Museum is located, you can also see the tombs of Cemal Gürsel and İsmet İnönü.
